First TCL Refresher Course

July 31st saw our first Trail Cycle Leader Refresher course.

The idea was that folks who had attended an SMBLA Trail Cycle Leader Training course, but who needed some additional training before assessment, could come along and we could focus on the areas they wanted to cover again. This course was a complete success.

We covered some of the trailside repairs, navigation, teaching skills, core skills and a few other areas. This is what one of the folks who attended had to say:

"I just wanted to say a big thank you for the support and guidance you gave me over the 2 days (the refresher and the assessment day!), It was one of the most challenging things I have done but one of the most rewarding! I know that you had not done the refresher before but it was such a BIG help for everyone and it was pitched just right. Turning the day over to our weaknesses was a very good idea and needs to be a regular occurrence before assessment! I was out on my bike this morning and will continue to work and learn and improve. Thanks once again!!"
