About us

We started Snowdonia Cycle Hire & Training eight years ago. With a passion for biking, we started by just hiring bikes out. Eight years later, we offer a comprehensive range of hire bikes, new bikes for sale, servicing, instructor training courses, continuing professional development (CPD) courses and guiding for groups.

We have built our business by being reliable and offering quality through every aspect of what we do.

Jonathan Collins

Role:

  • Scottish Mountain Bike Leader Association (SMBLA) Tutor, bike mechanic, instructor, technical advisor.

Bikes:

  • Kona Four - for riding when out running courses and leading groups - a great versatile lightweight 4" bike
  • Kona Stinky - my downhill bike for holidays and fun - my time!
  • Giant XTC - My 21lb race hard tail.
  • Giant OCR3 - for time trialing.
  • Kona Dew - for ripping into town or a quick evening leg stretch on the road.

As well as running the on-bike part of the buisness, I really enjoy getting stuck into big tricky jobs in the workshop, it's a kind of relaxation for the legs. I work very closely with the National Mountain Centre (Plas y Brenin) and run all their biking courses from coaching through to the Scottish Mountain Bike Leaders Association (SMBLA) courses.

When I'm not working my favourite kind of riding is epic rides in remote terrain with big climbs, big descents and stunning views. If there's an uplift I'll take my 43lb Kona Stinky for some serious downhill fun.
